Holding Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from the Cleveland Institute of Music in Cello Performance and Suzuki Pedagogy, Wesley Skinner studies with renowned cello pedagogue and teacher trainer Dr. Melissa Kraut. His chamber ensembles have been coached by members of The Cleveland String Quartet, The Cavani Quartet, The Blair String Quartet, The Juilliard String Quartet, Carolyn Warner, Antonio Pompa-Baldi, and Anita Pontremoli. He has previously studied with Richard Weiss, Bradley Mansell, and Bob Story; and he has performed in solo master classes for Yo-Yo Ma, Zuill Bailey, Andres Diaz, and David Ying.
Wesley has won top prizes in the 2015 Paducah Symphony Young Artist Competition in Kentucky, the 2015 Tennessee Cello Workshop; and in the Spring of 2014, he won the CIM Concerto Competition. Most recently, Wesley became a prize winner in the Lewisville Lake Symphony International String Competition at the University of North Texas with the Elgar Cello Concerto. As an avid teacher in the Northeastern Ohio area, he holds faculty positions in the Western Reserve Suzuki School, the Hudson School of Music, and the CIM Preparatory Program.
